Working With and Through Partners

V

V4C's vision of partnership involves working collaboratively with various actors to reach a common goal of adolescent girls and women empowerment. V4C has much to learn from and is building on the existing work of a number of active agencies supporting gender equality and women empowerment and working for social change.equality and women’s empowerment, and working for social change.

V4C is managed by a consortium of international and national organisations led by GRM International. Other members of the consortium are Social Development Direct, Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternatives and ITAD

V4C’s implementing partners include a critical mass of local organisations, which were carefully chosen to bring a mix of skills and thematic specialisation critical to the delivery of the programme. These partners include:

  • Policy and Legal Advisory Group (PLAC), which will assist with legislative strengthening
  • Media, Information and Narrative Development (MIND), an innovative development communication organisation
  • Theatre for Development Centre (TfDC), which uses theatre to promote social change
  • Women’s Aid Collective (WACOL), which is providing support with women political participation in Enugu
  • Women Trust Fund (WTF), which is providing support with women political participation at the Federal level
  • Women Advocate Research and Documentation Center (WARDC), which is providing support with women political participation in Lagos
  • Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), which is providing support with women political participation at the Federal level
  • Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DAG), which is providing support with women political participation in Kano
  • Affirmative Action Initiative for Women (NCAA), which is assisting with pushing the Gender and Equal Opportunity (GEO) bill
  • Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA)/Legislative Advocacy Coalition on Violence against Women (LACVAW), which is assisting with pushing the Violence against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) bill
  • Heartland Alliance Nigeria, which is supporting the safe space programme in Kano and Enugu States
  • Global Health Awareness Research Foundation (GHARF), which is supporting the safe space programme in Kano and Enugu States
  • Linking the Youth of Nigeria through Exchange (LYNX), which is supporting the safe space programme in Kano and Enugu States
  • Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND), which is supporting the safe space programme in Kano and Enugu States
  • Adolescent Health and Information Projects (AHIP), which is supporting the safe space programme in Kano and Enugu States
  • Legal Awareness for Nigeria Women (LEAD), which is supporting the safe space programme in Kaduna State

 V4C will play both an influencing role and a direct role to support selected implementing partner organisations. This direct support will happen primarily through granting processes to enable these organisations to implement various interventions focused on social norm change.

V4C liaises with the ‘Engendering Men: Evidence on Routes to Gender Equality’ (EMERGE) project as a learning partner. The EMERGE project seeks to find out what works best in engaging men and boys for gender equality in terms of changing social norms and the institutional arrangements and structures which sustain or shift norms and attitudes. It explores which men and women need to become engaged at different levels, why and how.

Every1Mobile has been appointed to deliver the mobile and online elements of V4C. The company will help shape the online communications strategy and design, build and run branded web and mobile sites which will deliver peer to peer forums, online mentoring, expert Q&A and validated courses as well as qualitative, quantitative and ethnographic research.

V4C is also working with another category of partners which include media and marketing professionals like Yellow Brick Road and Flint Production to create and promote a brand identity for our target audience. As well as gender equity organisations focused on men and masculinity like Promundo and Sonke Gender Justice
